Challenge
- Oil producer under cyclical steam injection (400°F) in Bakersfield, CA
- Two upper zones were previously hydraulically fractured and operator wanted to permanently shut them off to improve production from lower intervals
Solution
- RBP set to protect lower zones
- Injectrol® NWB was bullheaded to isolate upper zone
- Injectrol® NWB formulation was optimized for leakoff control against proppant pack (an increase of 300 psi was achieved during the treatment squeeze)
Result
- Pressure integrity test showed total zonal isolation at the first attempt
- Well is currently producing from lower zones
